Knit in the simplest of Fair Isle patterns, this sock alternates stitches of two contrasting yarns-every stitch of the bright yarn, as if a precious stone, in a setting of the solid color.Finished Size: About 6V (7V, 9)" (16.5 [19, 23] cm) foot circumference and 8X (9V, 10W)" (22 [24, 26] cm) long from back of heel to tip of toe.
Yarn: Fingering weight (Super Fine #1). Shown here: Shibui Sock (100% superwash merino, 191 yd [175 m]/50 g): #323 peacock (teal; A), 2 skeins, and #51301 spectrum (multi; B), 1 (1, 2) skeins.
Needles: Cuff, heel, and toe-U.S. size 1 (2.25 mm): set of 4 double-pointed (dpn). Leg and foot-U.S. size 2 (2.75 mm): set of 4 dpn. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge
Notions: Tapestry needle.
Gauge: 17 stitches and 22 rounds = 2" (5 cm) in stockinette stitch worked in the round on smaller needles. 18 stitches and 18 rounds = 2" (5 cm) in stockinette stitch worked in patt st in the round on larger needles.
