Spinning Primitive Breeds: How to Spin Icelandic, Jacob, Shetland, and Other Ancient Wools
|Spinning Primitive Breeds|
|with Judith MacKenzie|
Did you know that you can spin yarn for sturdy rugs, delicate lace, warm sweaters, long-wearing socks, and even fun embellishments—all from one fleece?
Primitive breed sheep were all this and more for our ancestors, and these ancient sheep provide everything a modern spinner could want. From choosing a fleece to making a wide variety of yarns, Judith MacKenzie's new video How to Spin Icelandic, Jacob, Shetland, and Other Ancient Wools teaches you how to make the most of these amazing fleeces.

- Excellent Presentation!
- The timing for watching this couldn't have been better. Judith's common sense approach and appreciation of the ancient breeds comes through. I came away with a better understanding of the two Jacob fleeces I'm working on. Judith described the variation through the fleeces for each breed and the unique characteristics they bring to our hands. Thank you!!! (Posted on 5/17/2015)
- Judith's Great, But DVD Lacking
Being a Shetland sheep breeder as well as a spinner/weaver for over 35 years, I was looking forward to Judith's new video. As usual, Judith's teaching, sharing, and commentary on a few of my favorite sheep breeds was spot-on.
The DVD itself, however, needs work. There was no easy way to find the Introduction to the video. It went straight into the chapters. Judith would mention "as we talked about before" (re: Scandinavian sweaters) and I could not find that mentioned anywhere on my copy of this DVD. I did check to make sure my DVD/BluRay device was running correctly, which it was.
I will notify FW about this copy but buyer be aware to make sure your copy has the complete information. (Posted on 5/11/2015)
