Did you know that you can spin yarn for sturdy rugs, delicate lace, warm sweaters, long-wearing socks, and even fun embellishments all from one fleece?

Primitive breed sheep were all this and more for our ancestors, and these ancient sheep provide everything a modern spinner could want. From choosing a fleece to making a wide variety of yarns, Judith MacKenzie's new video Spinning Primitive Breeds: How to Spin Icelandic, Jacob, Shetland, and Other Ancient Wools teaches you how to make the most of these amazing fleeces.

Shetland Fleece
produced by Rainey Creek Fiber

From the flock of the same Shetland ewe used in the Spinning Primitive Breeds video, this generous portion of Shetland wool has been hand-selected by Judith MacKenzie for its quality. The wool produced by Shetland sheep has historically been a valuable commodity due to the softness and lovely crimp in its undercoat; the longer outercoat is used for more hard-wearing fabrics. You will receieve 8 ounces of fleece that is washed, packaged, and labeled.

Note: Because of natural variations from sheep to sheep, the color you receive may not match the photo shown here.

 EP12138 Jacob Fleece
produced by Drumcliffe Farm, Sandy, Oregon

This heirloom breed has medium grade fleece and no outer coat. The fleece is light, soft, springy and open, with very little lanolin that offers a higher yield from the washed fleece. You will receieve 8 ounces of fleece that is washed, packaged, and labeled.

Note: Because of natural variations from sheep to sheep, the color you receive may not match the photo shown here. The farm has done its best to include color variations in each kit.
