The Three Adorable Accessories of The Crochetist

Join us at Maker Festivals Colorado, the ultimate crafting extravaganza in Loveland from April 10-13, 2024, where the beloved Yarn Fest evolves with an exciting addition of beads and jewelry artists!

Have you taken a look inside The Crochetist? This very special collection is all about easy, elevated, and elegant design, and the accessory crochet patterns included are pleasurable to stitch as they are luxurious to wear. (Psst . . . they also make great gifts!) If you, like me, are all about accessories this time of year, take a look at the three offerings in The Crochetist and see if one of them sneaks its way to the top of your queue.

Wafture Cowl by Kylie Lamb

If your vibe this time of year is easy-to-memorize patterns in thicker yarns that you can stitch while you binge your favorite shows, this simple but luxurious accessory is perfect for you! Wear this infinity scarf long as a fashion statement or doubled up for warmth. Worked in the round, the wave pattern is created with the humble chain and slip stitches. The simple design perfectly highlights the yarn choice; this sample uses worsted-weight Omega-Tamm Sophie (distributed by Creative Yarn Source). The circular construction creates continuity in the wave pattern and is extremely satisfying to stitch. The resulting piece is stretchy and comfortable, and it will be treasured by whoever wears it—you or a lucky recipient!

Clast Cap by Lisa Naskrent

Perfect for walking the cobble-stoned streets of an old city or skipping rocks at the beach, this hat features a stitch pattern that looks like an array of staggered pebbles. The texture looks similar to the popcorn stitch, but you work it without dropping a loop from the hook. If you’ve got airline travel coming up, this would be a perfect candidate for a take-along project! We recommend splurging on a yummy yarn like Universal Yarn Bella Cash, used in the sample, which is a sport-weight blend of merino, nylon, and cashmere, so you can savor every stitch. The slight stretch and extreme softness makes it a dream for hats.

Pruina Shawl by Toni Lipsey

The perfect meditative project for crocheters of all skill levels, this shawl features lacy V-stitches punctuated by solid rows. Because it’s worked in a worsted-weight yarn, you’ll work through the project much faster than you might think for such a large, luxurious wrap. Inspired by a minimalist aesthetic, the classic triangular shape can look trendy when tied like a bandanna or more traditional when thrown over the shoulders. We chose Sugar Bush Yarns Shanty [*Affiliate Link], a primarily merino yarn with just a touch of linen to make it super crisp and drapey. This would make a truly extravagant gift, or an awesome self-love project to bookmark for yourself, possibly for after the holidays? Or not—we don’t judge.

Is one of the accessory patterns from The Crochetist calling to you? Let us know in the comments! I am personally planning on trying out at least one Clast Cap. I’m super intrigued by that textured stitch pattern, and since my last crochet hat was such a success

Yours in Stitches,
Andrea
