Penny Layman began sewing as a child and continued sewing off and on throughout her teens and twenties. She became interested in quilting 6 or 7 years ago when she was perusing blogs and saw a “wonky” quilt block for the first time. It intrigued and excited her that she could make a quilt without following a pattern. She quickly fell head over heels for paper piecing (of all things!) and began to teach herself how to design patterns. She has been published in several magazines and books and her very own book “The Paper Pieced Home” debuted December 2014 which shows off her quirky, offbeat, and retro style.
