Learn everything you need to know to figure out all those tricky math issues you encounter in your knitting!

We’ll equip you with the skills to handle any pattern, from ensuring you have enough yarn to being able to read, follow and decipher the instructions, including such challenges as "increase 12 stitches evenly distributed across the row," and “work decreases every sixth row 5 times, and every fourth row 12 times, and every following alt row.” We’ll also discuss clever tricks such as using a digital kitchen scale to help you use up your yarn stash, and to calculate how long you’ll need to finish up a project.

This web seminar aims to demystify knitting math, giving you concrete and practical ways to deal with the numbers problems in your patterns and projects. Kate focuses on easy tricks and solutions, and she’ll work through some real-life examples to show you how it all comes together, including ways to avoid the numbers entirely if you don’t feel confident about them.

Math for Knitters is all about tools you’ll require to execute a pattern successfully; in the second web seminar, we’ll equip you with skills to alter and adjust patterns to meet your exact needs.

With this webinar, you'll learn:
  • How to make sure you have enough yarn for your project, whether buying from a yarn shop or using up your stash.
  • Why it’s important to know whether the pattern needs 200 meters or 200 yards of yarn.
  • How to decode and easily follow instructions like “increase each end of every 6th row 5 times then every 8th row twice and then every foll alt row.”
  • How to handle all those pesky math problems in your pattern, like increasing stitches evenly across your pattern, or reversing shaping. What it means when a pattern says it needs 12 sts plus 1.
  • How to figure out if you’ll get the project done in time for the baby shower!

Great advice for knitters of all levels
Sound quality at the beginning is not great but is fixed shortly through the session. I took this course to learn more math that would hopefully improve my knitting and I was not disappointed.

I can add, subtract, multiply and divide but math has never something I was skilled in doing or enjoyed. Ms. Atherley's information is easy to understand and the examples are easy to follow. I feel much more confident about getting my desired results in my knitting. I wish there was a math book for knitters, since I have 10 full pages of notes from this webinar.

I only gave it 4 stars because I could not find a way to print off the examples and the little glitch in the sound. Loved this Webinar worth every cent.
