The cable-stitch pattern of this design beautifully highlights the Lorna's Laces Haymarket swirling upward against a solid background. The 1x1 cable can be easily executed without a cable needle and will significantly speed up your progress once you master the technique. The result is a squishy fabric that makes this set super warm and cozy, and the pattern includes two color options!

Fits small on 4.0mm's
Use larger needles !
I was enchanted with the design of this hat. What a cool spiral at the top!
The suggested needles are 4.0mm throughout.
Cast on 116 to make the adult(large) size.
After starting the ribbing I ended up going with a 4.5 for the colourwork area as there is stranding and stitch shifting. The hat, when finished with fit a child about 8-10 years.
My recommendation would be to CO with 5.0mm needles for ribbing and then move to 5.5mm for the body of the hat.
I used Berroco Comfort which is a worsted weight acrylic. It may not have as much give as a wool which might cause part of the fit issue. I am a fairly even knitter but I do think that the needles required are too small.
After speaking with the designer she said that she is a very loose knitter and her test knitter uses needles 2-3 sizes larger than what she does.
Overall a fun pattern to knit. Looks hard but is easy to do!
