Once you learn to read charts, many stitch motifs become easier to work. Here, an allover pattern can be worked from a chart or from the row-by-row instructions, but the pattern repeat is easier to see in chart form.

Yarn: Brown Sheep Company Cotton Fleece (80% cotton, 20% merino wool; 215 yd [197 m]/3½ oz [100 g]): #CW725 buttercream, 1 skein.
Needles: Size 6 (4 mm): straight. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Tapestry needle.
Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows = 4″ in Diamond patt.
