The challenge in giving jewelry the rich color and luster of gold is simple: the high price of that precious metal. The way to meet the challenge is also simple: use gold sparingly and to maximum effect. Called keum boo, the traditional Korean technique of applying fine or nearly fine gold foil onto silver is an excellent way to accomplish this. Learn this relatively easy technique and boost your fabrication and finishing skills when you create these gorgeous earrings!
Required Material:
Gold foil
Fine silver
Ear wires
1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper
dish detergent
brass brush
denatured/rubbing alcohol
scissors or craft knife
cutting mat
tweezers
electric hot plate
burnisher (steel or agate)
drill with drill bits
OPTIONAL: scrapbooking paper punches, infrared thermometer, disc cutter, dapping set
