Weaving is an investment of time and yarn. One of the greatest modern innovations in weaving is the availability of software that enables weavers to quickly create and test their designs before committing them to the loom. Weaving software can be a wonderful aid to creating drafts, understanding weave structures, and working with color. In this video, Madelyn van der Hoogt overviews the basics and some of the advanced features common to weaving software products and shows how to use them in your weaving projects.

You’ll learn:

  •  How to use software to create weaving drafts
  • How to work with color
  • How to work with different thread sizes
  • Ways to explore drafts and structures with block substitution and other features

Along with Madelyn’s video workshop, this video gives you a printable booklet with examples of design tasks and a list of weaving software products.

Waste of time and money
I have always thought highly of Madelyn, but this video is not what I hoped for. I own another program than Pixeloom and the commands, the screens, etc. are NOT the same. I felt that she didn't really know what she was trying to teach. At one point she refers to "add" and doesn't explain where or how. I am supremely disappointed. I cannot recommend that anyone but this video. Review by Stella (Posted on 4/23/2015)
Disappointing
This is an expensive video for only 1/2 an hour long. Felt more like an advertisement for Pixeloom than a tutorial. Review by Virginia (Posted on 3/20/2015)
Waste of Money
I was hoping to see some kind of an overview of two or three weaving software packages with a discussion of some of their features. Instead I get a single software package that she readily admits she does not know a lot about. What she did on this video, could have been taught even better just by using graph paper, which I already use. I wanted some insight into a weaving software package that would make it easier for me to design with and then easily translate it to my loom. Very disappointing! Waist of money.
I was very disappointed with the program. Madelyn didn't really know the program itself so why did she present the program. Thought that you at least had some kind of program to practice on.
This is a total waist of your money.

Disappointed
I had such high hopes for this one. Instead I was sad to see Madelyn not really in her element. She states a few times she didn't know how something worked or how to do it. If you don't know, then WHY are you the presenter?

Madelyn uses Pixeloom but much of the information is good for other programs. Save your money and purchase one of the many tutorials for software available elsewhere.
