Build your fabrication, soldering, and sawing skills with this uniquely shaped pendant. Learn the skills for creating a pracial gemstone setting for your next project. Adapt the directions for setting your own prize cabochon.

Required Materials:
  • Azurite and malachite cabochon
  • 20 gauge sterling sheet larger than the cab
  • 1.5x4mm flat wire
  • Medium silver wire solder
  • Easy silver solder
  • 16 gauge sterling round wire
  • LAYOUT: tracing paper, rubber cement or glue stick, Sharpie thin marker
  • HAND: jeweler's saw and #3/0, sawblades, oval mandrel pliers (I use Wubbers), #3 and #4 Grobet half round files, Fretz #412 hammer, chasing hammer, center punch
  • FABRICATION AND FINISHING: 3M sanding sponges: medium and fine grit, Lucite handled brass brush, Dawn detergent, liver of sulfur (optional), #55 drill bit and Dremel or flex shaft, curved burnisher, wire snips, safety glasses
  • SOLDERING: torch, pickle, quench water, fine pointed tweezers, extra-long chain nose pliers, flux, solder pick, soft fire brick, copper tongs, fire extinguisher
