Spring 2007 Book Reviews
In the Spring 2007 issue of Spin-Off, We mistakenly listed an incorrect price of Warp with A Trapeze and Dance with your Loom. The correct price is $19.95, the book is self-published and available from Kati Meek, 7796 North Pointe Shores, Alpena, MI 49707, (989) 358-0162; krmeek@charter.net.

Estonian Sheep Puppets

In the Summer 2006 issue we inadvertently omitted part of the instructions for forming an ear in the Estonian Sheep Puppets project. The directions should have indicated the following

Cast on 24 sts; join, being careful not to twist the cast-on row.

Knit 10 rounds

Shape top:

*k1, ssk, k6, k2tog, k1* twice. 20 sts remain.

Knit 2 rounds.

*k1, ssk, k4, k2tog, k1* twice. 16 sts remain.

Knit 2 rounds.

*k1, ssk, k2, k2tog, k1* twice. 12 sts remain.

K 2 rounds

*k1, ssk, k2tog, k1* twice. 8 sts remain.

K 2 rounds

*k1, k2tog, k1* twice. 4 sts remain.

Cut yarn and draw tail through remaining sts; weave in tail neatly on WS.

Snazzy Solar-Brewed Half-Mitts: Omission (103 KB)

In the Summer 2005 issue, we inadvertently omitted the identifying numbers from the image on page 75 that correspond to a yarn list on the facing page.

Unless otherwise noted all yarns were spun from gray New Zealand Romney X Perendale.

  1. Black walnut hulls; no mordant.
  2. Cochineal; alum and cream of tartar premordant; yarn spun from white Border Leicester fleece.
  3. Black walnut hulls and Saxon blue indigo; no mordant.
  4. Cochineal; alum and cream of tartar premordant.
  5. Black walnut hulls and Saxon blue indigo; no mordant.
  6. Cochineal and Saxon blue indigo; alum and cream of tartar premordant.
  7. Black walnut and Saxon blue indigo; no mordant.
  8. Madder root and jewelweed (flowers, stems and leaves); alum and cream of tartar premordant.
  9. Natural indigo vat with urine; no mordant; yarn spun from white Leicester X roving.
  10. Jewelweed (flowers, stems, and leaves); alum and cream of tartar premordant; yarn spun from tussah silk and camel-down top.

Soy Shells Diagram (18 KB)

The shells diagram for the Soy Shells Shawlette on page 44 of the Spring 2004 issue is the wrong shape—here is a corrected diagram.

  Updated December 18, 2003

A Border Leicester Christmas Stocking (518 KB)

The Project Notes Box for this project was accidentally omitted from the Spring 2003 issue. The complete project is available in this file. Most recent correction was made on page 76, under Heel flap, Row 1: the number of rows repeated should be 12 (not 17 as was printed in the magazine), making the total number of rows in the heel flap 24 instead of 34.

Fall 2002 issue - Our apologies to Maine Fiberarts! On page 13 we confused them with the Maine Crafts Association. Maine Fiberarts is a statewide, non-profit membership organization dedicated to promoting the fiber arts. You can visit their website at www.mainefiberarts.org to learn more about them.

Winter 2001 issue - The People's Friend Cobweb Wrap. The pattern for the lace shawl featured on page 82 of the Winter 2001 issue of Spin•Off is manufactered by Jamieson and Smith of Lerwick, Shetland in the United Kingdom but it is available in the United States through the following company:

Yarns International
5110 Ridgefield Road, Suite 200
Bethesda, MD 20816

The pattern is also called People's Friend Cobweb Wrap. CW110.
