Centre with 6 Swans:

Centre with 6 Swans:
Gold Dust '20': 3 spools
Twenty: 2 20 g. balls

Centre with 7 Swans:
Lyscordet: 2 25 g. balls
Goldfingering: 3 25 g. balls

Small amount of Red and Black Twenty cotton for features on both centres.

1·25 and 1·50 Crochet hooks for centre with 6 Swans.

1·50 Crochet hook for centre with 7 Swans.

N.B. When purchasing materials be sure that you buy enough to finish the article also allowing extra yarn if article is made larger as dye-lots vary. The quantities of yarn stated are based on average requirements and are therefore approximate.

Centre with 6 Swans: 1st 4 rounds to 6 cm. (2 1/4 in.).
Centre with 7 Swans: 1st 4 rounds to 6 cm. (2 1/4 in.).

Tension Check: Before you crochet these designs check the tension by working the first 4 rounds in the stitch pattern. If the tension is tight use a size larger hook, if loose use a size finer hook.

Using 1·25 hook make 21 ch. 1 d.c. into 2nd ch. from hook, 1 d.c. into each ch. to end.

Next row: 1 ch. 1 d.c. into each d.c. to end.

Rep. last row until 10 rows have been worked. Fasten off. Roll work tightly and s.s. the last row to the 4th.

BASE
Using 1·25 hook make 25 ch. 1 d.c. into 2nd ch. from hook, 1 d.c. into next 22 ch. 5 d.c. into last ch. 1 d.c. into base of each ch. to end, turn. (51 d.c.)

Join Swans to Centre by catching the centre seven ch.sps. on swan base to Centre as shown.

Using Black make eyes each side a little above beak, starch and pull into shape.
