Thom Atkins, Monterey Sea Scape

We are pleased to present the final selected pieces that appeared in the Beadwork III: The Beaded Cloth exhibit that toured the United States from September 2002 until December 2003. Jurors Robin Atkins, Jean Campbell, Amy Clarke, and Dustin Wedekind had the difficult task of narrowing down the 150 bead embroidered entries to the thirty-two finalists.

The artists, who come from all over the United States and Canada, explored a variety of techniques and presented work that ranged from abstract to realistic, from two-dimensional to sculptural, and from emotional to subdued. The quality of all the submitted pieces was top-notch, and choices were often determined by the way a piece was presented. Also included in the touring exhibit will be works by invited artists Nancy Eha, Mimi Holmes, Connie Lehman, Jo Wood, and all four jurors.

If you couldn't make it to one of the venues, see the Photo Gallery of the exhibit.
