“Bethany Barry creates unique and beautiful designs…. The instructions are clearly written and illustrated.” —Crochet Fantasy

Colorful, fun and funky with lots of sparkle.” –Carol Duvall

"This isn’t the typical tutorial on how to make crocheted ropes or purses – Bead Crochet takes both crafts to a new level."—The Bead Bugle

Bead crochet is an innovative pairing that combines a vibrant selection of beads with simple crochet techniques to create an enticing cache of jewelry, accessories, and sculptural pieces. Bethany Barry, a professional beader and teacher, provides a comprehensive overview of bead crochet that includes history, tools, beading stitches, and basic crochet techniques. Then jump into a dozen exciting projects including a chunky cuff-style bracelet inspired by the night sky, a versatile talisman necklace, classy spiral swirl earrings, a playful beaded collar, a bejeweled circle purse, and much more! Each project is presented with step-by-step instructions and simple illustrations along with helpful hints and tricks to simplify each technique. Also included is a gallery brimming with original creations that are sure to spark your imagination while inspiring you to new heights of creative expression.

Bethany Barry is a self-taught beader who grew up a Quaker in New Hope, Pennsylvania. In the 1970s, she rejected her upbringing and opened a series of retail stores in Florida, California, and New Jersey, all of which sold beads and her handmade jewelry. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in the 1990s, she began teaching beading classes, both locally and at national bead shows. She lives in Forest Dale, Vermont, with her husband.
