Without Bead Boy Sidekicks, this page wouldn’t exist. Since
July/August of 2000 (debut de Bead Boy), we have published 172
images of readers’ creative solutions for beading (not to mention
additional images we could show only on our website). Having said
that, I felt compelled to make Bead Boy Mel as homage to Mel
Jonassen for all her creative, often over-the-top contributions to this
department over the years. (Find more of her pink dreadlocks in our
