Classes to Go at The Textile Center: Weavers Guild of Minnesota
"Weaving our past, spinning our present, creating our future" is the motto of the Weavers Guild of Minnesota. The guild's thirty-sixth annual sale was held in conjunction with the November Fiber Fair. Proceeds from the annual event support local fiber artists as well as the guild. Handmade items such as scarves, shawls, and handspun yarn to begin a project were a part of the offerings. The guild is located in the Textile Center in Minneapolis and offers workshops led by nationally recognized fiber artists. The workshops are made possible, in part, by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Ongoing classes are held in weaving, dyeing, spinning, and off-loom techniques, with TRY IT! options for newbies or the curious on a variety of techniques. Classes are offered for skill levels ranging from beginners to a multilevel category with a basic introduction in a subject area and the opportunity to practice and develop skills at a higher level. Unique "Classes to Go" have been designed to meet for two sessions and allow consultation with the instructor in-between to plan a project and problem solve.
