Here are two quilt square patterns from Weldon’s Practical Needlework, Volume 1:
Open Ribbed Pattern and Foxglove Pattern square are part of this designer's ongoing series “My Year of Weldon’s.”
Brown Sheep Cotton Fine, 80% cotton/20% wool yarn, fingering weight, 222 yards (203.0 m)/50 gram (1.8 oz) skein, 1 skein of #CF100 Cotton Ball (1 skein is sufficient to make two squares in the Open Ribbed Pattern)
Needles, size 2 (2.75 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
Tapestry needle for sewing squares together
Blocking wire
T-pins
Finished sizes: Open Ribbed square, 9½ x 9½ inches (24.1 x 24.1 cm), after blocking; Foxglove square, 13 x 13 inches (33.0 x 33.0 cm), after blocking
Gauge: 6 sts and 7 rows = 1 inch (2.5 cm) in St st
