  • Page 40, first column should read- Buttonhole band: With B and RS facing,….sts along right front edge.
  • Need 4 balls each color of yarn are needed for the largest size jacket.

  • Left Front/shape neck and armhole:
    Next row: (RS) K1, ssk, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. Next row: (WS) Work even. Rep last 2 rows 3 more times.

Fletcher Hat

With MC, CO 85 (95) sts. Place a marker (pm) and join in the rnd. Work in linen st (see Stitch Guide) until piece measures 1 1/2" from CO. Join CC. Rnd 1: With CC, work in patt. Rnd 2: With MC, work in patt.> Repeat last 2 rnds 4 more times.

Exchange the pattern instructions in BODY section with:
Divide for armholes: (RS) Cont in patt, work to sl st at end of 4 (4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6)th column; instead of slipping st, knit into st below sl st but do not drop sl st from needle, then place right-front sts (all sts on right needle) onto holder; work sl st and purl st, then work 8 (9, 8, 9, 10, 10, 11) more columns in patt, ending before sl st at end of last column, knit into st below sl st but do not drop sl st from needle; place next 39 (39, 48, 48, 48, 57, 57) sts onto holder for left front—74 (83, 74, 83, 92, 92, 101) sts rem for back. Back: Cont in patt, dec 1 st each end of needle on next RS row, then every 4th row 15 (16, 16, 17, 18, 19, 18) more times—42 (49, 40, 47, 54, 52, 63) sts rem. Work even if necessary until armhole measures 10½ (11, 11½, 12, 12½, 13, 12½)", ending with a WS row. Place sts on holder. Fronts: Place left-front sts onto needle. Work 1 RS row in patt, turn and work 1 WS row in patt, then join a 2nd ball and work WS row of right front, positioning both fronts on same needle to work at the same time. Cont in patt until all sts are changed to B. At the same time, dec 1 st at each armhole edge on next row, then every 4th row 15 (16, 16, 17, 18, 19, 18) more times and also at the same time dec 1 st 4 sts from each neck edge on next row, then every 4th row 8 (5, 16, 14, 12, 19, 15) more times, then every other row 0 (0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 4) times—15 (17, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19) sts rem for right front and 14 (16, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18) sts rem for left front. Work even if necessary until armhole measures 10½ (11, 11½, 12, 12½, 13, 12½)", ending with a WS row. Join shoulders: Place back sts onto spare needle. With RS tog and beg at left armhole edge, join left shoulder using three-needle BO (see Glossary) until 4 left-front sts rem; place these sts onto needle beside back sts. Rep for right shoulder—29 (32, 27, 32, 37, 33, 42) sts rem. With RS facing, work I-cord BO across these sts as foll: (RS) K1, sl 1 wyf, k1, p2tog, k1, turn work. Next row: (WS) [Sl 1 wyf, k1] 2 times, sl 1 wyf. Rep last 2 rows until 8 sts rem, ending with a WS row. Place 4 sts onto each of 2 needles. With RS tog, graft sts using Kitchener st (see Glossary).

With RS facing and beg 14 (16, 13, 16, 18, 16, 21) sl sts down from right-shoulder seam along right-front edge, pick up 14 (16, 13, 16, 18, 16, 21) sl sts (do not pick up and knit; simply slip the st onto the needle to pick it up) to shoulder seam, 21 (24, 19, 24, 29, 25, 34) sts along back edge, and 14 (16, 13, 16, 18, 16, 21) sts down left-front edge—49 (56, 45, 56, 65, 57, 76) sts total. Next row: (WS) With B, [sl 1 wyf, k1] 2 times, p41 (48, 37, 48, 57, 49, 68) while inc 6 (9, 20, 9, 10, 18, 9) sts evenly spaced by working (p1, k1) into same st, [k1, sl 1 wyf] 2 times—55 (65, 65, 65, 75, 75, 85) sts. Next row: (RS) K1, sl 1 wyf, k1, p1, work Row 1 of Lace chart to last 4 sts, p1, k1, sl 1 wyf, k1. Cont in patt until hood measures 10 (10½, 11, 11½, 12, 12½, 12)" from pick-up row, ending with a WS row. Shape hood using short-rows (see Glossary) as foll:
Short-Row 1: Work 22 (32, 32, 32, 32, 32, 42) sts in patt, wrap next st, turn, work to end of row.
Short-Row 2: Work in patt to 10 sts before previously wrapped st, wrap next st, turn, work to end of row.
Rep last row 0 (1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2) more time(s)—2 (3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4) wrapped sts. Next row: (RS) Work in patt to end of row, working wraps tog with wrapped sts.
Short-Row 3: Work 22 (32, 32, 32, 32, 32, 42) sts in patt, wrap next st, turn, work to end of row.
Short-Row 4: Work in patt to 10 sts before previously wrapped st, wrap next st, turn, work to end of row.
Rep last row 0 (1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2) more time(s)—2 (3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4) wrapped sts. Next row: (WS) Work in patt to end of row, working wraps tog with wrapped sts. Join top of hood: Sl 27 (32, 32, 32, 37, 37, 42) sts to spare needle—28 (33, 33, 33, 38, 38, 43) sts rem on left needle. With RS tog and beg at selvedge edge, work three-needle BO across all sts, ending by working the extra st tog with last BO.
