Free pattern: The Touchdown Scarf
|The Touchdown Scarf by Lisa Vienneau and Allison Barrett|
I'm a big football fan, and I'm so happy the season is finally here!
To celebrate, we've designed the Touchdown Scarf, a knitted scarf just for football fans; not only can you knit this scarf in your team colors, but you can knit it and be part of the 2012 Super Bowl!
That's right, your scarf can be worn by a volunteer at the 2012 Super Bowl in Indianapolis, Indiana—just take a look at the Super Scarves program.
I'm making two—one for the Super Scarves program and one in my alma mater colors, the silver and crimson of Washington State University. Our football team is supposed to be pretty good this year, after a few, shall we say, "building seasons," so I'm excited!
Scoring the Touchdown (Scarf)
This project came to be because the folks from the Super Scarves program contacted Interweave and asked if we wanted to feature a design. And we did.
I'd seen a football motif dishcloth on Ravelry and I thought it would make a really neat scarf. The designers, Lisa Vienneau and Allison Barrett of Knitwits Heaven, were all for it, and we were off.
This scarf is wide and cozy. You can make it even longer by simply adding another square or two. You can also leave out the seed stitch borders between squares and let one square flow into the next in stockinette stitch.
We'd love to see your version of the Touchdown Scarf, so if you make one, share a photo with us in the Reader Gallery.
